For the best results we need winds of 10-15mph or less and our machines cannot fly in any kind of precipitation due to the electronic components.

Most flights average around 5 to 7 minutes. Flight times depend on the weight, external conditions and speed so they will fluctuate. We are able to fly for most of the day as long as we have either access to mains power or have our vehicle in close proximity so that we can set up an ongoing charging station.

We operate within the regulations defined by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Air Navigation Order. The legal limits we can fly within are 400ft up and 500 metres horizontal distance and the machine must always be within the pilot’s line of sight (VLOS). However in reality we rarely need to go anywhere near those distances to get you the shots you desire. If you want to work outside these distances, for example at higher altitude, we can put an individual safety case forward to the CAA.

We take safety very seriously. Standard commercial permissions require that any aircraft over 7kgs is to be kept 150m from a congested area or 50m from a person, vehicle or building outside of the operators control. Although this can be reduced to 30m on take-off or landing. High Level Photography's permissions see this distance reduced to 20m and 10m on take-off and landing. It is not possible in the UK to overfly roads, public pathways, walkways, buildings and public spaces that are not under full control of the crew. Once you confirm a shoot, we will attend a Site Recce – which can either be physical or electronic, however physical is always preferred. We will then provide you with a site specific Risk and Method Statement alongside a copy of our operations manual which details all of our emergency procedures. When onsite we will brief all persons that intend to be within our operational area at any time to ensure they are fully aware of both our movements and the procedure they should follow if an emergency situation should arise.

Drones are particularly nifty for view photography, however they’re not always the best or most cost-effective option. Our team are fully experienced in choosing the best method to get the shot you need.
